This is an abbreviated sermon based on Paul's condemnation of the hollow, deceptive truths and philosophies that were threatening the Colossian community. We only made it through the first of three points - the false claim that Jesus was not the Son of God.

This week we dive into the poem/hymn that is Colossians 1.15--20 (and continue on to 21--23). The section here is to be read as a poem or hymnn or song and in this structure, we learn that Jesus has the authority over creation, death and the church is the apex and method for the deployment of new creation in this world.

We have come to the end of the I AM series. Starting in Exodus, when God reveals his name to Moses, and culminating in Jesus' 7 usages of I AM - we dove deep into each specific occurrence.
This week, a short recap of each sermon, then some time to personally reflect and listen for the voice of the Lord as he would speak to us in these sermons.

Jesus makes this bold and stunning claim, but how can we understand it beyond an theological trump card or evangelical weapon? Inserting this claim back in the upper room context of John 13--17 in which his troubled disciples are trying to discover where Jesus is going and his talk about a room in his Father's House.
